Viola Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Hi! I'm a first time bidder and came across this on Hotwire for 8/22 - 8/27. It's a hotel in Burnaby-Coquitlam area, listed at $79 a night. The amenities are: -pool -restaurant(s) -lowest price guaranteedThat's it! I'm a bit skeptical about this being a decent stay, given the price and limited features, but would like some help with this one. I have a feeling it's not Hilton Metrotown. :) Thanks.

tilepusher Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Judging from hotel rates on those dates, it's probably a fairly long way from Vancouver, so I'm guessing that this hotel is in Coquitlam. The Executive Plaza Coquitlam is a possibility (one TripAdvisor reviews mentions that he/she booked the hotel through HOTWIRE). It might also be the Ramada Inn Coquitlam (worst case scenario).
Viola Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 Thanks for the replies! Yes, the price certainly looked nice and I didn't mind the area since we'll be driving. After considering worst case scenarios like tilepusher mentioned, I bidded for a room through Priceline instead. The end result was a room at the Inn at Westminster Quay, which looks good so far. I'll be sure to mention this in the appropriate thread.
Viola Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 I managed to get a 5 night stay at the Inn at Westminster Quay for $80 / night. I didn't start lower and my inner bidder says maybe I could have. Still, I shaved off 50% according to current rates so I'm happy and excited about this. :)

Kingz Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 The hotel is actually in New Westminster, which is south-east of Vancouver. I would say it takes about 25 minutes to drive to Downtown Vancouver from that location. The area is not the greatest as it's close railroad tracks and close to an overpass. There is not much activity in the area at night since the public market next to it closes pretty early. There is a good all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant next door called Top Gun Sushi and you have the Boathouse Restaurant in the hotel I think, which is ok too.Hope that gives you a bit more info =)
