Luchipboo Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Looking for a nice hotel - less than $100/night downtown. If possible with/in walking distance of the Rogers Centre. Not too picky, just clean. No pool needed. I've been reading on these posts, but am gun-shy.Never did it before. Have 3 adults. Should I just go for a bid of $80 downtown toronto? Staying August 21-26.Hotwire's prices seem to be going up & up.

thereuare Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!First thing you need to be aware of is that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy (HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupany)... with PRICELINE it's possible that you receive a room with only one bed. Your ability to get a 2 bedded room will be dependent upon occupancy issues and the hotels willingness to accommodate your request. For additional info on this subject see our related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Is this a risk you're willing to accept?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Luchipboo Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 I did find that on priceline, and unfortunately I can not take that risk. I am traveling with my 2 elderly parents and do not want to sleep on the floor. I see that there is another person having the same trouble I am with HOTWIRE...way too expensive for 4*. I have a 'standby' booked out by the airport, but hate the thoughts of driving so often. Is it too late? Or do 4*'s come up at the last minute? Leaving Pennsylvania Thursday am.Thank you so much for any assistance.
thereuare Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 When searching for triple occupancy, what is the rate offered by HOTWIRE? (and which zone is it located in) What is the best rate you're able to find for an equivalently rated hotel thru conventinal means? What hotel do you have on 'standby' near the airport and what is the rate? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Luchipboo Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 Hotwire has a 3* Downtown West for $269!a 2.5 * Downtown East for $179.Orbitz has Isabella Hotel & Suites for $140 and the Holiday Inn Express downtown for $153.The back up is the Quality Inn & Suites by the Airport - with no frig/micro (???-crazy) for $65 on a friends & family rate.To add a frig/micro - they want $20 more/night.THANK YOU SO MUCH - you have been very helpful.
thereuare Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 There is a pretty significant rate change over the course of your stay... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? If so, you can stay by the Airport for the first 3 nites and then change to a Downtown hotel for the last 2 nites (i think both can be done within your budget and you can probably even do better for the Airport leg of your stay than the $65 friends and family rate you have as a back-up (well, about the same price but an increase in star rating)Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Luchipboo Posted August 20, 2008 Author Report Posted August 20, 2008 Just looked into splitting the dates. I have tickets for the ball game at the Centre for Fri. and Sat. so downtown those days would actually be better. It is still not working out. There is a $59.00 3* near the airport with the following icons: airport shuttle, smoke free, fitness, pool, restaurant, bus ctr, laundry, high spd inet. Any idea what hotel that could be?THANKS again - I didn't realize it would be this difficult.

It is still not working out. It's not working because those dates are very expensive Downtown... the idea behind splitting with the Airport location first then followed by Downtown is becuase the downtown hotel prices don't drop until the last 2 nites of your stay. For the HOTWIRE hotel you list above... it is a match for the Holiday Inn Select Toronto Airport so that would be our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
