C Diane Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 3 adults going to NYC for 3 nights (Nov 7-10). I realize fall is an expensive time to go, but am willing to pay more than usual as this is a special 21st birthday trip for my niece.I've spent many hours on this site, Expedia, Travelocity, Hotels.com and Quikbook trying to decide which hotels to consider. Now that I'm organized and have figured out how to make a good guess at which hotels Hotwire is offering, I have a few questions.First, based on the time of year and that we want a 4*, any chance that we'll see less than 350/night? I'm not worried about prices going down the closer it gets to the date (this may not happen in the fall anyway). I would rather get a room sooner than later and not be concerned about saving $20/night or worse yet, not getting one of the hotels we prefer. There are 9 that look good and are offered frequently based on the calendar of wins and others reporting their purchases. Second, how often does HOTWIRE post new hotels? Maybe it depends on offers getting accepted(?). Thanks in advance. I will use your HOTWIRE link to check offers, and will report back after I purchase.
C Diane Posted August 16, 2008 Author Report Posted August 16, 2008 Saw this offer this morning: 4* Midtown East. Amenities: Fitness, Business Center, Restaurant, Internet Access. $364/night.It looks like Omni Berkshire to me. Anyone have a different guess?
thereuare Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Welome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the Omni Berkshire so that would be our best guess.I will add that there is a 'cheap' hotel in Jersey City for your dates (likely the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson) which provides good PATH train access to Manhattan, but it doesn't sound like you'd be interested in a non-Manhattan location for this trip given the special occaisoin. Thanks for using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. C Diane Posted August 16, 2008 Author Report Posted August 16, 2008 Yes, it was Omni Berkshire. This hotel was one of my top choices for this price range. Now we can think about restaurants, shopping and a Broadway show. Thanks so much for all the valuable tips and info. This is a great site!
