dechass Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Hi all,I used strategy below to try for a 5* in North strip between 10/2 to 10/5. - no success.(also bid same dates and rating last night - up to $200).maximum bid at present - 220.we are staying at venetian 10/5 to 10/8. so hoping to get it for these 3 dates too. Select 5* North Strip...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* North Strip and re-bid zone6...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* North Strip and re-bid zone7...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $221My first preference would be to try to get the venetian - (I realise I could get another).I think i'll keep an eye on winning bids, and try every couple of days.Do I really need to think about a backup? I cant see it being a problem in Las Vegas? Thanks Dec.
thereuare Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Yes, you should book a back-up...It's not the hotels selling out as much as it is the potential for rates to go higher from here. If you book a refundable rate now you lock in that price... if rates go lower you can cancel and re-book at the lower rate; should they go higher you're protected since you've locked in the lower rate.Use our Las Vegas Rate Checker to assist in your search. dechass Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 Yes, you should book a back-up...OK, I've booked a cancellable backup - treasure island ($749 for 3 nights) - (fyi the venetian is $1037 on their site), i think i read it was close to the Venetian, - am I right?TI looks like a great place to stay, I think we'd prefer to stay in 1 place for our stay, but experiencing the 2 hotels may be a good option too.I see there's a chance i could get TI on PRICELINE, - so i'll keep that in mind also..thanks for your advice again.Dec.

dechass Posted September 12, 2008 Author Report Posted September 12, 2008 Just to complete...i booked the other 3 nights direct with The Venetian.so 2nd - 5th $259 (not great price, but wanted to be in same hotel for whole stay).and 5th - 8th $120 - great price booked through priceline. :) Happy that I was able to get a great hotel at a reduced price,it isn't the greatest saving, but I'm still happy.Looking forward to my holiday now very much. Thanks for all your help Thereuare. :)
