rm2908 Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 I'm new to this, and just wondering what a good starting bid would be. I would like to stay under $300 a night and need hotel from 9/20-9/23 (3 nights). My top choice is the theatre district/times square, but i guess i could go to midtown west too since that's not that far?I'm a first time visitor to NYC too so i'm clueless. Any help/ suggestions?? Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! To begin, i'd read our comments on seeking Hotels Near Times Square.NYC is BIG, but it's also very compact, and mass transit easily accessible and readily available that for the typical visitor most midtown locations should work out just fine (although the MTE zone has some properties at the 3* level which are a 10-15 minute walk to the subway, not sure if that is too far away for you or not, which may affect your decision to include that zone, if you decide to expand beyond just MTW and Times Square)These dates are expensive, and if you're looking for the best deal possible, i'd recommend including more midown zones as you're willing to accept. As well, even though this only a 3 nite stay, i think you can do better if you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, but this would involve having to likely change hotels after 2 nites and stay in a new hotel for the 3rd nite, something some are, others aren't, willing to do. (if you do split i think you may be able to get a 4* hotel for your dates ~$300/nite... or maybe a 3* for less than that)Let us know your thoughts regarding the above and we'll take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
