awk316 Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 I was going to wait to post this until I won, but I thought it would be beneficial to others who may be bidding at the same time to see my bid history.Dates: 11/8/08 to 11/15/08Hotel: Resort on Hawaii (Waikoloa-Kohala Coast)Link for bidding: Priceline HotelsBid Strategy: I am bidding $105, then adding Hilo (no Resorts) and bidding $110. My wife then logs in and trys $115/$120. We get 4 bids a day and we've tried it for about a week. We're not completely sold on the Sheraton, so we are not adding Kona, yet.I see that the Marriott has accepted $125 for September dates (Click Here for the post), however, I have called the hotel and they charge a $20/day resort fee. Resort fees are usually not (I think never) included in your Priceline bid, therefore, the per night price is now $145. Resort fees make it tough to bid when some charge them and others don't. We are hoping that Nov will be considered more offseason than Sept, so the accepted rates will drop.We will continue this strategy since we are still a few months away. As it gets closer we will increase our bid. I'll add to this post as our strategy changes. We may also consider adding Kona (which would be the Sheraton). Thanks,Andy

islandak Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Link for bidding: Priceline HotelsWe're not completely sold on the Sheraton, so we are not adding Kona, yet.I ended up at the Sheraton one weekend. It was okay. The pool on the inside was cold! But the outside pool was fine. Keauhou is a shorter drive into Kailua. And the manta ray feeding was pretty cool. The Hilton and Marriott are a lot nicer though. And Hapuna Beach is in the Waikoloa area. That is a real beach.Resort fees are usually not (I think never) included in your Priceline bid, therefore, the per night price is now $145. Resort fees make it tough to bid when some charge them and others don't. The resort fee is definitely not included in the bid.We will continue this strategy since we are still a few months away. As it gets closer we will increase our bid. I'll add to this post as our strategy changes. We may also consider adding Kona (which would be the Sheraton). This could work. In my last post my last rejected bid opened up. I have the luxury of bidding at the last minute, but the prices are out there. Good luck.
