Need two rooms, for an elderly cousin and I, at the nicest possible hotel centrally located. Money not an object, except clearly I would rather pay $500 than $1000 for a really great location and hotel. Any ideas ? Thanks !

You can only bid on zones as predefined by PRICELINE.

If you go to PRICELINE and look at the regions and maps as they have defined the boundaries, are there any zones (the more the better) for which you'd be comfortable accepting a hotel in any of them?

If money is no object, Orbitz.com has what appears to be a special on these dates, where a suite (500 SQ FT) at the London Hotel is $549, which is the same price as their smallest room (which is about 180SQFT). That hotel is a few blocks from Park Ave and very centrally located not far from Times Square or Central Park. The room option in question should say, "London suite 500 sqft kg or qn 1bedroom or open layout ihome 2 lg flat lcd tv". Make SURE that you select this option. Also in the suite category on Orbitz.com for $548 is a 1BR suite at the Affinia 50, which is rated the #8 hotel in the city on tripadvisor. Use FABSAVE10 for 10% off. This is a block away from Park Ave, gets outstanding reviews and

More reasonably priced is the historic Intercontinental Barclay, which is half a block off Park Avenue on 48th. That hotel is $391 non-refundable via Expedia.com. The Hilton New York is also $379 non-refundable on Orbitz.com (-10% with FABSAVE10)

While this choice would be more in the Times Square area, it is ranked #2 on tripadvisor out of all the NYC hotels - the Casablanca Hotel is $399 on Orbitz.com, and would also offer free breakfast.
