bleistift Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Hi,Looking for a 3* to 4* hotel in NYC near Midtown. Any zone near Midtown is fine (Midtown East, Midtown West, Times Square, Midtown South, Central Park South, etc.), but SoHo is a bit too far south. Would prefer to spend a maximum of $200/night, although that figure is flexible depending upon the market. Will be staying 2 nights starting Friday 10/3 and checking out Sunday 10/5.Not sure if it's possible to target specific hotels using a particular bidding strategy, but would really prefer to stay at the Hilton in Midtown West if it is.Would anyone be ale to provide an appropriate bidding strategy? Thanks.

thereuare Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 (Midtown East, Midtown West, Times Square, Midtown South, Central Park South, etc.)There is no longer a Midtown South zone on PRICELINE (it's been subdivided)To avoid confusion please let us know exactly, by PRICELINE name, the zones you're willing to accept... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. bleistift Posted August 16, 2008 Author Report Posted August 16, 2008 Hm, I'm not entirely sure...I've only been to NYC once and I stayed in Central Park South. I guess Midtown East, Midtown West, Times Square, Central Park South, Madison Square Garden, and Empire State Building would work. I enjoyed staying in Central Park South so I thought I won't venture too far. If you have any suggestions I'm glad to take them, otherwise I guess those areas are fine.
thereuare Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 The following would be our suggested strategy for a 3* hotel in any of the zones you've indicated, but also note that you stated above that your first choice (if you could choose) would be the Hilton New York... and this is neither 3* rated nor in the CPS zone.At the 3* level you have three re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* CPS and MTE and MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE.Select 3* TS and MSG and ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE.Select 3* CPS and MTE and ESB...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE.Select 3* TS and MSG and MTW...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE.Select 3* TS and MTE and ESB...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE.Select 3* CPS and MSG and MTW...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE.Select 3* TS and MTE and ESB and CPS and MSG and MTW...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. bleistift Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 Thanks thereuare. My business trip was delayed until November, so I bid on 11/14 - 11/17. I used the bidding strategy but couldn't get any with the max of $200. Increased it by $5 a couple more times, and I got the Roosevelt Hotel at $215.
