ecbaum Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Hi allI'm looking to try out priceline for the above dates. I prefer to stay in USE, USW or Fishermans Wharf. I've primarily been looking for 4' hotels, as they are easy to locate and probably more fun to stay at.As fra as i can see, Hilton in Union Square has rates @ $159 per night. Hyatt Regency are way over $200 a night. If i understand the principles correctly i'm likely to get Hilton if i bid for 4* in USW.But how much and is it too soon to bid? My instinct is to go for a quick deal since the rate seems low. but it might be a little early.Suggestions are welcome
ecbaum Posted August 12, 2008 Author Report Posted August 12, 2008 Well. My initial bids up to $95 were all rejected, USE, USW and Fishermans Wharf. Guess i'll try a bit higher tomorow
thereuare Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! There is actually little correlation between the hotel with the least expensive hotel direct rate and the hotel you will win on PRICELINE.What is your maximum bid for this stay (ie- think about how much of a discount you would need from the $159/nite Hilton rate to compensate for the 'unknown' factor)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. ecbaum Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 Thanks for the feedback and sorry for my long delay. I ended up getting Hilton Downtown @ $98, so that's one for the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. You provide a valuable service on this forum and i will always go through this page when shopping on HOTWIRE or PRICELINE.I know i'm supposed to change the subject of the thread, but i have no idea how to do it
thereuare Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Congratulations on your success!Glad to hear of your resutls and that you're happy with the outcome. Above you mentinoned bidding USE, USW, and FW, and there is a hilton property in each of these three zones. Since you listed the win as Hilton Downtown i assume it is either the Hilton in the USE or USW zone, but can you please clarify which one you received? (just list the address and we'll know which one it is)Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
