hi, I want a 4* hotel downtown toronto and need help bidding. I'm very new, but i've learned a bit on these forums. Before i bid I need some advice.

I bid today for check in this friday aug 15th, out the 16th. My 60 dollar bid was rejected.

So I found out that I can re-bid if i change the time zone. This makes me a little nervious, so let me see if i get this:

- If i ADDED markham to my bid, since markham does NOT offer any 4* hotels (as of right now---ALWAYS CHECK), I can add this zone and still be TECHNICALLY bidding on a 4* hotel downtown...correct?????

- my method to check whether a zone does NOT offer 4* (so i can add it), is to check the zone of my choice, and if the zone is presented in grey, then it does not offer 4* and I can still add it in my quest for a 4* downtown.

I will wait for a reply before I follow your PRICELINE link. I would appreciate advice on what price to put...should I start on 62 and go up? what intervals.

thanks a lot.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Yes -- almost. To be more precise, you can add Markham because it only has hotels of lower star level than what you're bidding for. I have seen many people make the mistake of adding zones that have hotels of a higher star level than what they are bidding for, and get burned when they get "upgraded" to a hotel in a zone they didn't want (this happens most often in zones with Resorts).

my method to check whether a zone does NOT offer 4* (so i can add it), is to check the zone of my choice, and if the zone is presented in grey, then it does not offer 4* and I can still add it in my quest for a 4* downtown.

Aside from the above caveat, that's the correct method. You should check your rebid zones this way each time you bid.

Hotel prices don't appear to be that high on the 15th. $62 would be fine for your second bid (you may even want to try $60 again if enough time has passed since your last bid); I would go up in $2 intervals from there.

Good luck.
