Nicole_Chicago Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Hi, Looking for Priceline bidding advice on a 4* in Cambridge (first choice) or Copley Square for less than $120 per night. Arrival - 9/11/08 Duration - 4 nights Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are high for these dates and based upon current prices i'm not sure $120 will be enough for a 4* hotel either of these zones for these dates. If you'd like to give it a try anyway we can suggest a strategy for you to follow, but let us know if you're willing to pay more for a hotel in the Cambridge zone vs. the Copley zone OR if what you're reallly after is the least expensive 4* hotel in either of these zones?I assume you're not interested in the (Quincy-Faneuil Hall-Financial) zone?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Nicole_Chicago Posted August 7, 2008 Author Report Posted August 7, 2008 Thanks for your response. Yes, my goal is the least expensive 4* hotel in either zone. After more research, I am willing to try the Quincy-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone if that will increase my chances of getting a 4*.
thereuare Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 It will increase your chances from the standpoint that there will be more hotels which can possibly accept your bid... but rates are high and i'm doubtful that $120 will be enough, but hopefully you can prove me wrong :)At the 4* level you have three re-bid zones avaialble. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Cambridge and Copley...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Cambridge and Quincy...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Cambridge and Copley and Quincy...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120Any quesitons feel free to ask,Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Nicole_Chicago Posted August 11, 2008 Author Report Posted August 11, 2008 After trying several different bidding strategies this weekend, I just won for 9/11-9/15 at the Bulfinch Hotel in the Quincy district. The rate was $175 per night, and I believe it is a 3* 'boutique' hotel. It was more than I wanted to pay initially, but there were no other options. I wasn't finding anything for less than $200 w/o tax & fees. There must be something going on that weekend. Thanks again. :)
