Hi,

Looking for Priceline bidding advice on a 4* in Cambridge (first choice) or Copley Square for less than $120 per night.

Arrival - 9/11/08

Rates are high for these dates and based upon current prices i'm not sure $120 will be enough for a 4* hotel either of these zones for these dates. If you'd like to give it a try anyway we can suggest a strategy for you to follow, but let us know if you're willing to pay more for a hotel in the Cambridge zone vs. the Copley zone OR if what you're reallly after is the least expensive 4* hotel in either of these zones?

Yes, my goal is the least expensive 4* hotel in either zone. After more research, I am willing to try the Quincy-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone if that will increase my chances of getting a 4*.

It will increase your chances from the standpoint that there will be more hotels which can possibly accept your bid... but rates are high and i'm doubtful that $120 will be enough, but hopefully you can prove me wrong :)

At the 4* level you have three re-bid zones avaialble. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

After trying several different bidding strategies this weekend, I just won for 9/11-9/15 at the Bulfinch Hotel in the Quincy district. The rate was $175 per night, and I believe it is a 3* 'boutique' hotel.

It was more than I wanted to pay initially, but there were no other options. I wasn't finding anything for less than $200 w/o tax & fees. There must be something going on that weekend.
