Welcome to BetterBidding!

Few things.. i would think about all the zones you're willing to accept and then bid with a gameplan, rather than fail at Times Square, decide to add MTW fail at that and add a new zone, and so-on and so-on.

At the 4* level there is little difference among the midtown zones (imo)... if there is a particular hotel you're trying to avoid then by all means don't include that zone, but in terms of convenience, they're all very similar and close to mass transportation. See some of our thoughts here: Hotels Near Times Square

Also, this is likely going to be an expensive time in NYC. While i understand this is just a 3 nite stay, i do think you may benefit from SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, if that is an option or something you're willing to consider.

Feel free to ask questions regarding the above and or let us know your own thoughts and we'll take it from there.

Thanks for the help, i did try the way you were describing i started a 175 w/TS, then 180 w/TS and MTW, then 190 w/TS, MTW, and MTE and finally ended w/200 w/TS, MTW,MTE, and CPS. Too which nothing was available, i assume they are really booked up or i have to go higher than 200 for a 4 *. The only concern w/splitting most hotels check out is 11 or late 12 but checkin is usually not till 3-4pm if we are sightseeing what do we do w/our luggage if i seperate to different hotels. That is why i was trying to book all at one, so i don't need to worry about the luggage. Thanks

You can usually leave your luggage with the bellman of the hotel you're checking out of OR with the bellman of the hotel you're checking into. However, this being NYC and everything costs money, some hotels are charging "per bag" for this service. :)

Let us know if/how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

tried for almost 2 wks on PRICELINE - to get a 4 * for under 250/night to no avail.

Checked out HOTWIRE- booked friday night for a 4* for 274/night- it turned out to be the intercontinental barclay hotel. At this time of year- it looks like it is hard to get anything under 300/night.

Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing it with the board.

The original dates in your topic title were sept 13-16 and this does not include a Friday nite (or are you saying your booked the hotel for these three nites on a Friday nite??)... can you clarify the dates of the stay which you purchase and also include the amenties shown before your purchase. You can still view the amenities by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

I booked this on friday aug 1/08,

i am staying at the intercontental barclay- from sept 13 sat- sept 16 tuesday.

3 nights

i purchased it at 274/night

amenities before booking were: fitness center, restaurant, business center, high speed access, and tennis nearby.

Before i purchased i looked at hotwire: narrowed it down to the hotel being either the barclay or hyatt grand, figured either was worth it for the price and the time of the year.
