Priceline Hotel: New to priceline - need help with 3*-4*

Hello everyone as you can probably see from the header I have just discovered priceline. I am planning a last minute holiday to New York for 2 people.

I have already found the price for Courtyard Lyndhurst Meadowlands in Lyndhurst and Fairfield Inn East Rutherford Meadowland on Marriots own website.

Both are at $109.00 per night.

I am looking to spend a lot of time in New York and both hotels are actually situated away from new york with travelling time which is slightly putting me off. If anyone has any information on travelling to new york on a daily basis from the surrounding areas I would be grateful if you could leave your comments

The most ideal situation for me however would to be actually staying in New York in a 4* or a good 3* hotel (I dont mind which hotel as long as its ok!) Would it be possible to find a hotel price in central new york (times square, central park, midtown west, midtown east, etc) with a similar price or better even cheaper using priceline? It seems like some people have got amazing deals on the hotels stayed at using priceline!

Thanks

Unfortunately, you're not going to find a price as cheap or cheaper in Midtown Manhattan - the price you found at the outlying hotel is that cheap due to it being an outlying hotel. Getting a Midtown hotel for these dates will likely run at least $150 a night, if not more.

Thanks for the reply

Well if thats the case is it usually possible to get the outlaying hotels at a even cheaper rate than $109? Is there a list somewhere where I can see the general prices for each area on Priceline?

Thanks for the thread link Will.

Does anyone know the best places to stay and bid at so that it will be easy to commute into New york? Preferably somewhere right next to a PATH station.

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

As the Staying In NJ... Visiting NYC thread mentions, the area along the Jersey City Waterfront is usually the best place to stay as it offers easy PATH access. Unfortunately it is becoming better and better known and rates have gone up since this area has gone thru their gentrification process (and sometimes now has rates which rival Manhattan). After that the Secaucus, North Bergen, Rutherford areas are good as they offer frequent bus service to Manhattan, but some properties are better than others in terms of access to transportation.

Will you have a car? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?
