kthan Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 I am curious about the relations between bid price and hotel we can get. For example, in the same zone and same rating (Jersey City, NJ...3*), there are two hotels (Doubletree and Hyatt Jersey City). I haven't found any sucessful bid at or more than $100 for Doubletree. But, I found many sucessful bid on Hyatt at or more than $100. But I also found some successful bid on Hyatt below $100. I am wondering if there's any price thresholds that a hotel become a choice. If yes (and it's true to my above example), I'd start my bid at $100 (hoping for Hyatt). The rates for the dates (8/18-8/20...3nts) are $285/285/285 for Doubletree, $319/$339/$319 for Hyatt.
thereuare Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 Welcome back to the board.Assuming you have used PRICELINE or HOTWIRE in the last 5 years it would be appreciated if you shared your results with the board.Give your example, what if the Hyatt is not available but the Doubletree is available at a sub-$100 price... you bid $100 and you not only receive the Doubletree, but you overpay for it! So bidding higher is not recommended as discussed in this Don't Bid Higher For a Specific Hotel ThreadLet us know your thoughts on how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. However, i'll add that with rate at $300+ per nite you're probably not in the ballpark for the Hyatt. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
