superbobx2 Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 Hi, I noticed that the Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency are in the same zone and star rating, although I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency before and would rather try the Grand Hyatt. Does anyone have any tips for trying to get the Grand Hyatt versus the Regency or any experience with this? It seems the Grand Hyatt goes for more, which is fine by me, but I would hate to bid more only to end up at the Regency... thanks in advance!
AaronJB Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 There is no way to bid for a specific hotel. If you try to bid more for a different hotel, you could very well overbid and get the hotel you're not looking for.
superbobx2 Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 I know about that risk, was just wondering if anyone had any 'real-world' advice. At any rate, if anyone's interested, it seems like for this weekend, the rate is somewhere above $65 and at most $70 for DC-Convention Center/Capitol Hill area, and if the offerings are the same as HOTWIRE, it would seem to be the Hyatt Regency. Looks like no Grand Hyatt for me...
thereuare Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 I know about that risk, was just wondering if anyone had any 'real-world' advice. The 'real world' advice is to not take the risk :) (as per Don't Bid Higher For a Specific Hotel) or use HOTWIRE if the hotel has been identified and appears to be offered for yoru dates. What are the date(s) of your stay? superbobx2 Posted August 5, 2008 Author Report Posted August 5, 2008 The reservation was for this coming saturday and it looked like it was going to be the Regency through priceline at any rate... I bit the bullet and booked through starwood's sale that ended yesterday, got the Westin Alexandria for $109... should be alright, nice to have the points in this case. Thanks anyways!
