kimsbeom Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 Hi, I'm planning to stay around Kingston, Ontario for 1000 islands, from 8/3~8/5 (two nights).PL has 3*, 2 1/2*, 2* for that area, but I'm not sure about the quality of the hotels, because I coudn't find any reviews. How do they compare to ones in Toronto? Does anyone have experience with PL in that area?I tried 3* with 42$ and rejected, and I have no idea what to do next.Any help'll be appreciated.Thanks.
thereuare Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 I would guess that the local Holiday Inn and the Radisson could be 3* properties. There is also a Four Points Sheraton and a Best Western that could probably be 2.5* or 3* depending upon the individual property. The 2* are probably along the lines of the Howard Johnson. How high are you willing to bid for a 3*? If you'd then lower to a 2.5* what would your maximum bid be? Do you have a cancellable back-up hotel reserved yet? Still plenty of time to continue to bid this rather than lower your star quality of you'd prefer not to, but if you give answer the above questions we'll try to advise further. Is there any special event in town that would cause higher than usual demand? kimsbeom Posted July 3, 2004 Author Report Posted July 3, 2004 Thanks for the reply. My maximum bid for 3* would be 50$. Best Western looks fine, so lowering to a 2.5* would be a good idea.If I can make 2.5* for 40$, I'd be very happy about it. Regarding the event, I don't know much about it. Maybe, it's just a big season. :)BTW, I'm looking for two rooms, cause I'm traveling with my friends. So, it's highly probable that we go for suites so that we can stay together. Can I bid for suites in PL?I appreciate your help.Thanks.
thereuare Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 There is no way to designate a suite on Priceline (nor did i see any suite hotels when i searched in Kingston)When you are able to bid again this is how i would proceed:Select 3* and bid $45, if rejected...Lower to 2.5* and bid $35If rejected wait 72 hours:Select 3* and bid $50, if rejected...Lower to 2.5* and bid $40What is your back-up plan if you're unsuccessful with Priceline?Orbitz has a 2* Knights Inn for just under $50/nite, but i don't know anything about it (but they rate it 2*). kimsbeom Posted July 3, 2004 Author Report Posted July 3, 2004 Thanks. I'll do it.If I get anything helpful, I'll post here.
thereuare Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 Even rejections are helpful to know and will benefit future bidders in this area, so please follow-up. It also helps if each thread has some sort of 'closure' (my own preference), so even if you end up going with the Orbitz deal mentioned above let us know... as that too cold help future bidders who are having a tough time getting a Priceline acceptance. kimsbeom Posted July 6, 2004 Author Report Posted July 6, 2004 I didn't make it for 45$ on 3*; and we stopped trying PL. Instead, my friend is looking for a cottage or suites, which is not avalable in PL.I appreciate your help. Sorry for not contributing more bidding info.Thanks.
