Are you staying 8/4 & 5 and checking out on 8/6? or checking out on 8/5? How many in your party?

Also, it's kind of difficult to know what a "good deal" means to you. Please be more specific regarding your budget per night.

Hi,

Sorry about the lack of information... There will be 2 of us and we will be checking in on the 4th and checking out on the 5th. I'd like to keep the cost under $200 if possible. I'd be willing to stay in any area in NYC, except for Long Island City or Brooklyn.

Thanks!

Well it's worth a try getting a good deal, what star level are you interested in?

For a 4* I would start at $140 and bid for CPS/ESB/MTW/MTE/Times Sq Theater District, if rejected increase by $10-$15 if rejected using rebid zones. You may even want to start at a higher bid, but the lowest I've seen accepted recently are for $140.

If a bid has been won for a certain date/s, it definitely does not mean that it will be accepted on a different set of dates. Looking at Orbitz or Expedia clearly show that these are expensive dates, and $200 very well may not be accepted for a 4*, as the majority of 4* properties for these dates are over $400 or well over $400.

Just a follow-up:

It appears that every hotel in NYC is booked on 8/4th. Seriously! I bid up to $200 on 2* hotels and nothing! Anyway, finally got the Millennium Hilton 4* in the Financial District for $240. Not thrilled about being downtown, but at least I have a bed to sleep in!

FYI, when I called the hotel directly to request a double room, they refused to make note of it. Yes, I know they can't guarantee the type of room available, but the Grand Hyatt has always at least, made note of the request. The person at the Hilton said this needed to be done through Priceline. Although I explained that this was not how it works, he insisted I call Priceline Customer Service...which I did. Priceline was very helpful and called the hotel directly to make the room request...and in addition, faxed the request to the front desk. As I said, I'll take what I get, but was surprised the Hilton was not as cooperative as the Hyatt has always been.

By the way, thanks for your help!
