dealhunters Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Hello,I'm trying to book a hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia for the dates August 22 to August 24, 2008. Ideally, I'd like a 4* hotel for a maximum of $90. Alternatively, I'd be willing to book a 3* hotel for a maximum of $80. Any tips with bidding would be most appreciated as I have been unsuccessful in my bids these past few days. Many thanks!
thereuare Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 How high have you already bid at each star level? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. dealhunters Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 The lowest bid we made for a 4* was $75 and the highest bid we tried as $95. We then tried the same amounts for a 3* and none of our bids were accepted. We tried adding additional zones to rebid on the 4* and that didn't work either.
thereuare Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 So you have already bid up to your maximum at each star level? You can wait it out and try again but do you have a back-up plan in place? If you continue to get rejected by PRICELINE, where will you stay (and how much?)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. dealhunters Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 We don't have a place to stay at this point and we're not sure where we'll stay. Any advice in whether our bid might be accepted closer to the dates?
thereuare Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 Any advice in whether our bid might be accepted closer to the dates?See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.We don't have a place to stay at this point and we're not sure where we'll stay. You maximum bid should be based upon whatever you'd be paying without the opaque providers (and then discount the "unknown" factor from there). HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel for $119 (although based upon the amenities this may be more like a 2.5* on PRICELINE) and a 3.5* for $134, if you're willing or able to stretch your budget a bit. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
