Priceline Hotel: Help with Bidding for Halifax hotel

Hello,

I'm trying to book a hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia for the dates August 22 to August 24, 2008.

Ideally, I'd like a 4* hotel for a maximum of $90. Alternatively, I'd be willing to book a 3* hotel for a maximum of $80. Any tips with bidding would be most appreciated as I have been unsuccessful in my bids these past few days.

The lowest bid we made for a 4* was $75 and the highest bid we tried as $95. We then tried the same amounts for a 3* and none of our bids were accepted. We tried adding additional zones to rebid on the 4* and that didn't work either.

So you have already bid up to your maximum at each star level?

You can wait it out and try again but do you have a back-up plan in place? If you continue to get rejected by PRICELINE, where will you stay (and how much?)

You maximum bid should be based upon whatever you'd be paying without the opaque providers (and then discount the "unknown" factor from there). HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel for $119 (although based upon the amenities this may be more like a 2.5* on PRICELINE) and a 3.5* for $134, if you're willing or able to stretch your budget a bit.
