My2cents Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Hi, I'm a new user to this forum (of which I've heard many great things about), and noth PRICELINE and HOTWIRE for that matter. My question is: I'd like to stay in Niagara Falls Canada at a 4* hotel. My only concern with using either Priceline (preferred) or hotwire, is the distance of the hotel from the "main" tourist area. Are the hotels generally in the tourist-concentrated areas? Also, if I understand this correctly, I simply visit the site, enter a destination, enter a bid (priceline), and buy? At what point during this process can I come onto this forum and ask for a guess as to the hotel I may be getting?Any help/tips/direction is GREATLY appreciated, as I travel often and would like to become a regular user.

thereuare Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! The hotel you receive can be anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone as defined by PRICELINE. There is no way to target, or avoid, a specific hotel when bidding on PRICELINE. You can also use our Priceline Maps for this zone which can show you the approximate location of most of the hotels reported in this zone.If you'd like to take a guess at the hotel you will receive before your purchase than HOTWIRE may be a better option as youc can often take an edcuated guess as to the property you will receive before your purchase (no guarantees though!). The trade-off is that PRICELINE. is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE.Feel free to ask any additional questions you have and if your plans are firm and you'd like to move forward let us know the actual dates of your stay and your maximum bugdget and we'll either help you with a bidding strategy or identify any HOTWIRE hotels which are within your price range. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 The HOTWIRE property above matches the Sheraton Fallsview and the Fallsview Plaza Hotel and might also match the Hilton, so either of these are likely candidates. However, the property i'm seeing on my own HOTWIRE search for your dates shows a Tripadvisor rating for 3.5/5.0 wth 220+ reviews... if you see this on your search as well (only appears after you click the "Continue" button next to the offering) then this is a match for the Fallsview Hotel so that would be our best guess of the three. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
