Caro1978 Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Hi there,I've just signed up to this website after reading about it all this week (so go easy on the newbie and I apologise in advance if I get anything wrong :) ) and I'm now after some help with a hotel in New York.2 adults (double room prefered)Arrival 23 Sep 2008 x 5 nights (dep 28/9)Area: not too fussed, have never been to NYC before so tourist attractions are on the agenda but don't necessarily want to be right in the middle of Times Square (as long as there are subway stations nearby and we don't mind walking around too much :) )I have the Pod hotel booked as a back up ($263/night incl all, I think, taxes) but would like to try and find a bargain 4 or 5* ideally (or anything higher star for the same price as the Pod). Is it too early to hope for a September bargain now? Also, I quite like the look of the Hudson hotel and was wondering what the general thought is on this hotel (since the reviews seem to vary)? Is there anyway of (almost) being certain of getting that hotel (I think it's the only 3.5* hotel in that area so not sure if to bid for a 3* or 4* hotel)?Sorry for all the info/questions, tried to fit it all into one post :o Many Thanks in advance! :) C
thereuare Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are high this time of year and at the moment i think it's going to be tough to get a 3* or higher for $250 or less, but it certainly doesn't hurt to give it a try. In your attempt, did you want to try for a 4* first up to your limit and then if rejected try for a 3* property OR are you looking for the least expensive 3* or better for this stay? The Hudson is rated 3 stars on PRICELINE and there is no way to target this particular property. It is rated 3.5* on HOTWIRE so you can do a HOTWIRE search and see if there is a 3.5* hotel offered for your dates in the Midtown Central zone within your budget; if so report the amenities here and we'll try to identify it for you.Let us know how you'd like to proceed regading the star rating (4* first or least expensive 3* or better) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Caro1978 Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 Hi thereuare,I would like to try for a 4* first if I can since I already have the Pod to fall back on (which is lower rated)...There is a 3.5* in Midtown Central on HOTWIRE. This is the only information I can really find where it says amenities:Fitness Center - Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.Restaurant(s) - Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Business Center - Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.High-speed Internet Access - Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Thanks for your help!C x
thereuare Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 The 3.5* HOTWIRE hotel above is priced at nearly $400/nite... is this an option? To try for a 4* via PRICELINE i'm assuming that MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, and ESB are all acceptable? (i'm not including Downtown as it's a little bit out of the way but you can include it if you'd like). At the 4* level in NYC you have six re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, and ESB (and Downtown if you so desire)...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, and ESB and re-bid zone5 (and Downtown if you so desire)...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, and ESB and re-bid zone6 (and Downtown if you so desire)...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $225, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, and ESB and re-bid zone5 and re-bid zone6 (and Downtown if you so desire)...Bid $230, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $250Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
