Can anyone provide any insight?

I bid for 2.5 stars, and rebid using zones that do not include 2.5 star hotels. I was "upgraded" to a 3 star in a zone I did not want which is not where I want to be at all. Where can I go from here? Am I out money for a hotel I can't use? Any insight would be appreciated!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

From Our Rules and Policieis:

If you have a complaint, problem, or question with a recent or upcoming Priceline/Hotwire stay, we will be happy to do what we can to help, but please be considerate of the board's primary goal of helping others and first post the details of your 'win.'

It is important for everyone to know when problems and customer service issues arise, but the majority of the users come here to see winning bid information... so please oblige them with this information before asking for them for help.

My appologizes. I won an "upgrade" at the Holiday Inn Yorkdale- Toronto for 81 dollars for August 2nd (1 night).

Do I need to post this somewhere seperate? I don't mean to use other users, I am more than happy to post my winning bids, but as this is my first winning bid, and this situation happened, I was concerned. I also want to alert others about re-bidding zones when upgrades are possible.

Does anyone have any insight to my problem that I mentioned above? It would be most appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Thank you for providing the details of your 'win'.

From Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:

If your bid is rejected, you can often add a zone that does NOT offer that star level or higher (ie- add a zone that ONLY offers lower star ratings)

As you now realize, it's not enough that a hotel doesn't have the star rating you're bidding, but doesn't have that star rating or higher either, for as you've learned, the star rating you select is the minimum you're willing to accept and your bid could be upgraded to a higher star category.

In regards to your current situation PRICELINE does have a strict no refund policy. You can try contacting them and let them know that you added that zone by mistake and see if they can do anything for you, as sometimes (rarely) they have offered a "one time exception" and allowed users to cancel for a $25 fee (but this is the exception and not the rule)

If you pursue it let us know how it goes and if you choose to bid again feel free to ask for help beforehand. (at the very least confirm your re-bid zones before bidding)

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Good luck.

After politely corresponding back and forth, this is the response I got:

"We are truly unable to assist you further in this matter. Please do not expect a response to further correspondence on this issue. "

Lessoned learned I guess. Thanks for your help.
