justriver Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Hi, Maybe my question is stupid :) , but I try it anyway.I've been bidding on 4* hotels in the area Beverly Hills for 9/6/2008-9/9/2008 for about a week now. I went from $116 to $145 a night and it isn't working. According to this board people are getting 4*hotels in this area for $116-$135 a night. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to keep trying or is it useless? Does it depend on what time you bid? How many days in advance? Thanks for answering!ps. I'm bidding 5 times a day by clicking on additional areas that has no 4*hotels :) .
thereuare Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are date specific, so rates for your dates are likely higher than dates when others have had their bids accepted. As well, hotels use the opaque providers (PRICELINE and HOTWIRE) to sell inventory they dont' think they'll likely be able to sell on their own. If occupancy is high for you dates there is little reason for the hotels to offer inventory at a deep discount if they may be able to sell the rooms on their own at full price. What is the best rate you're able to find at a 4* hotel for these dates? Do you have a back-up plan should you not have success with PRICELINE? (if so, where and how much)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. justriver Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 Hi, Thanks for your reply! But I wanted to let you know that it really depends how may weeks/days in advance you're trying to book (maybe not always but at least for me it was). Because the first bid I did today (August 1st a new month) has been accepted immediately. I'm really happy that I named a price somewhere between the minimum and maximum I bid before ($116-150). Because now I got the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza (Bevery Hills-West Hollywood) for $135 a night (9/6/2008-9/9/2008). I already printed my itinerary but unfortunately haven't received a confirmation email yet. So I'm hoping to get that one soon. Does anyone know how long this will take or is it not normal to begin with have to have wait for that so long (45 minutes)?Bye!ps. I wanted to edit the topic of this post but I don't know how.
thereuare Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing it with the board. The confirmation email should come immediately, dont' forget to check the BULK folder of your email inbox. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
