I plan to leave on a cruise from Fort Lauderdale on Jan 4, so I will fly in with a friend on Jan 3. I am looking for a clean place to stay somewhat close to the airport and Port Everglades.

I have searched both the downtown area (which seems a little pricy for a teacher) and the beach area, which is a little better. (It seems that the zones are fairly small, but I've never been there.)
