EUG rental - 7/31-8/2 - priceline strangeness

Priceline wants me to bid much higher than even the discounted rates provided by priceline. Both hotwire and priceline are quoting actual rates on budget.com, to the cent ($21.99/day) for an economy car.

Interestingly enough, Alaska Airlines offers a budget code (BCD U072200) that wacks about 20% off the price (no flight/mileage plan required). In addition, its actually mile accruing .. but only 50/day.

I ended up booking a reservation directly with budget using the discount code for a lower price ($19.79/day).

I have not rented in Eugene before, but generally i have found smaller locations in Oregon only keep larger cars/suv's in stock, making an economy bid or reservation a sure bet in getting a lot for a little.
