kgforce Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Well, it was actually $35, but I had $10 in PRICELINE Bonus Cash. Started bidding on a 2-1/2* at $22 (+ $10 bonus) and was rejected. Used free rebid at $25 (+ $10 bonus) and was "upgraded" to the Thunderbird Suites Hotel.First of all, this is not really a 3*. It is a 2-1/2*. But since it has a bar and a restaurant (that is open occasionally) it gets listed as a 3*. Not sure why they keep a restaurant and bar there. It is so close to SO many restaurants and bars, there's no need to stay and eat/drink at the hotel. The hotel is located at the Scottsdale Airport, but we never heard any planes. It's also very close to the Kierland shopping area.I was a little concerned about this place after reading some reviews around the web. But we had a pleasant stay. It was very quiet and mostly empty as this is the slow season in Arizona. The rooms are huge (separate living/work area with a door to the bedroom), but the bathrooms are small. The room includes a desk, sleeper sofa, microwave, coffee maker, small refrigerator, utensils, plates, cups, etc. There is free wi-fi in the rooms and lobby as well as a couple of computers and printers in the lobby for your use. There is a carb-only continental breakfast (sweet rolls, muffins, toast/bagels, cereal, biscuits, canned fruit, yogurt, coffee, milk, juice). But you can order eggs and such for an extra charge. All in all, it met our needs and we couldn't beat the price.
