Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* Tampa (Downtown) Westin

hello everyone, im new to this so pardon my ignorance--been trying to read other posts to get a feel for things. i would like to reserve a room today, if at all possible.

need a 3.5 or 4 star hotel close to st pete times forum in downtown tampa aug 1-3. thoughts on the best way to go about this?

does anyone have any idea what this may be or if i should try my chance with priceline and bid?

there is also a 3.5 star downtown for $75 w/ a rating of 2.5 out of 5 baed on 60+ customer reviews Last Reviewed:July 2008

im leaning towards the 4* but that is only because the pricing isn't too much more and it has a better review and star rating.

does anyone know which star rating the marriott waterside received?

anyone pricelined any hotels in this areas or gone through hotwire? thanks so much in advance!

Are these the complete set of amenities HOTWIRE associates with this property? When searching HOTWIRE for your dates i get a different 4* hotel with more amenities than the above. If you still only see the amenities above, are you searching for more than one room or for more than the default 2adults/0children?

i was searching for 2 nights *8/1-8/3, 1 room, 2 adults and here is what i get for the 4 star downtown:

High-speed Internet Access

5.3 miles to Tampa Intl. (TPA), 14.7 miles to Saint Petersburg Intl. (PIE)

any thoughts on an ID and if $89 is a fair deal? thanks so much for your help!

This property has not yet been identified. However, if i were to take a guess, the Westin Harbour Island seem like a possible candidate and that would be our best guess.

If correct, this doesn't seem like a great deal for after HOTWIRE's fee this would be about $95 and you can book this same hotel on the Westin website for $101/nite... so to save $5/nite isn't worth the uncerstainty of the hotel you receive, imo.

To consider PRICELINE, are you comfortable with staying anywhere within the boundaries of the downtonw zone? (as defined by PRICELINE)

thank you. i am ok with staying anywhere in the priceline defined downtown area, however, they are not offering any 4 star, only 3 star upscale. one of the brands listed is holiday inn and i have to tell you--i hardly consider that to be upscale. in addition, i see the embassy suites is listed and i have not heard the best of things about them from some friends who have stayed there.

im not really too sure what to do at this point. i guess i want the best of both worlds, a nice hotel with a nice price.

im not sure what to do.

any thoughts on what i should bid for a 3 star priceline for downtown?

i guess my max bid will be $68

i was reading that it seems the 3 * downtown that comes up the most is the hyatt which will be fine, however i wonder what my chances are of getting a holiday inn or embassy suites are.

any suggestions would be much appreciated. thank you for your help thus far!!!!

Nobody can stay if you will get the Hyatt or some other hotel... for $68/nite, if you won't be happy with any hotel in the zone, then you shouldn't use PRICELINE at the 3* level.

Rates are not too high so with a few days before your arrival i would begin as as follows:

At the 3* level you have one re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3* Downtown...

Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $55.

i ended up booking the westin harbour island and we had a great stay. the hotel was wonderful and yes, the escalators were still not functional :) other than that, it was lovely!

How did you end up booking the Westin... directly thru the hotel website or was this a PRICELINE or HOTWIRE purchase?
