photomikey Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 Hi,Bid Vancouver, BC yesterday, starting at $90, in $10 increments, to $140 with no success. It's probably too early, but I notice other winning bids in this price range from this date range.I'll wait a week or so, but am curious of your thoughts.Thanks.
thereuare Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 Rates are not high so i would just stick with your current bidding schedule given the amount of time before your stay. Not sure of the other dates you saw hotels already won in this area, but perhaps they were for weekend dates (which in a Downtown area may get released quicker) than midweek dates (which your stay above is Mon-Wed)Please remember to the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding.Keep us updated. photomikey Posted August 6, 2008 Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 Same bidding strategy. At $140 was asked to increase by $22 for a guaranteed win, I declined, and started going in $5 increments instead of $10. Won Sutton Place on my next try, at $145.Total cost (taxes included) 346.94.Sutton Place website lists a 2-night price of $470.44, a savings of 26%. HOTWIRE price for (presumably) the same property, $392.78, a 12% savings. Probably not my best priceline win ever, but a decent chunk of change saved.
thereuare Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Congratulations on your win... very nicely done!Glad to see the counter-offer present itself and motivate you to go a little higher to have this 'win' done and in the books... apparently it didn't take much more :)Thank you for sharing your win with the rest of us.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
