willbill Posted July 25, 2008 Author Report Posted July 25, 2008 Just keen for 4* end of the day. As long as close to transport etc I've been before and stayed at Sofitel and it was great got it through Expedia Aug 06 7 nights at $280 a night all inc Want somewhere for that unique NY experience got to do most touristy things last time. Love NYC! I'm excited. LOL!
thereuare Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 Is Downtown acceptable? There will be close transportation nearby, but it's a 20+ minute subway ride to mditown if that's where you'll be spending most of your time.Since you know your needs better than we do, please go to PRICELINE and determine which zone(s) are acceptable to you and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. willbill Posted July 26, 2008 Author Report Posted July 26, 2008 Thanks heaps for your assistance. We are very flexible we just want to make sure we stand the best chance for the best deal. Even breaking it down etc.
thereuare Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 Even breaking it down etcDo you mean SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID?Is Downtown acceptable????go to PRICELINE and determine which zone(s) are acceptable to you and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
willbill Posted July 29, 2008 Author Report Posted July 29, 2008 Not fussed on location more so getting a 4* and at cheapest rate possible for the time. Yes happy to split, change locations to increase chance. Cheers!
thereuare Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 NYC is more expensive in December than when you last visited in August and i think a 4* hotel for $250 or less may be tough, but why don't we try for your complete stay first and then if that is rejected we'll break it down for different date variations. At the 4* star level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB and Downtown (assuming all of these are acceptable)...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB and Downtown and re-bid zone5...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB and Downtown and re-bid zone6...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB and Downtown and re-bid zone5 and re-bid zone6...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $225I stopped at $225 (even though you stated your limit at $250) since you also stated that you were willing to split the bid in order to try for a better deal. This way we stop at $225, then if rejected try sub-set of your dates in hopes of landing a hotel for part of your stay for less, then if that is rejected try for your complete stay up to your $250 maximum (if you followed that :) )Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. willbill Posted August 10, 2008 Author Report Posted August 10, 2008 I have followed the strategy and have not yet been successful. Have tried on two separate occassions. Have not yet tried splitting. I think theres still a month or so before I really need to worry! Thanks so far for your help.
