thereuare
I don't see any 4* hotel offered for your date above when searching HOTWIRE... are you still seeing this property offered for your date? If so, are you searching for more (or less) than the default 2adults/0children or for more than one room? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. You have to search by "Atlantic City" which will include "ACY". Link to comment
thereuare
I see it now (wasn't there earlier when i checked)...The 4* has not yet been identified, but it's quite possible that it's a hotel without a Casino. There are a few hotels in the area (even more on the boardwalk which are combination of condo/rental properties) which could be consdiered 4 stars, and it's possible (likely) that it's one of these. The 3* is a match for the Trump Marina so that would be our best guess for that one. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know which you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. jlee28
I just booked the 4* hotel for next week through HOTWIRE at price of $99 per night. It is the Chelsea Hotel which from their website looks to be pretty nice, but there aren't any reviews out there so I am not too sure. Just wanted to let you know which one the 4* hotel is. Note to admin: Thanks for the great site, I will be using it a whole lot in the future. :) Link to comment

gintastic
Wow. Same date, same property just jumped from $95 /nt to $436 a night! wow crazy. Link to comment
BaltoDave
I just called the Chelsea to ask about rooms next week (Week of Aug 3) and was informed that the pool, spa and restaurants are not open yet. This might explain the $99 HOTWIRE deal (assuming that the 4* is the Chelsea). That being said, it's right on the Boardwalk between the Tropicana and Hilton. So if the pool is not important it might be a good option. Link to comment

BaltoDave
EXCELLENT, you made a great choice choosing that thne! :) let me know how your stay was!Just got back last night from my 2-night stay at the Chelsea. Here's the lowdown:It is (will be) two buildings (former Holiday Inn & Howard Johnsons) connected together. The part that was formally the Holiday Inn is open (I think 19 floors). On their website, is a good picture showing the two building togehter. When I was there neither restaurant was opened. We were told the "Chelsea Prime" (a steakhouse) will be opened on Aug 7 and they weren't sure when Tiplitzky's (a 24-hr diner) will be opened. The (small outdoor) pool on the 5th floor was opened but the bar was not. To compensate, they offered free glasses of water. Also, they provided towels. There will be a 2nd pool and spa in the other section (the part that was HoJo).The best part is that they provide (for free) chairs, towels and umbrellas on the beach! So, leave your beach blankets home!I didn't bother me that there was not a casino in the building because it's just next door to the Tropicana and a very short walk to the Hilton. The only negative is that they charge $15/day for valet parking (self parking is NOT available). However, because of some logistical screw-ups, they waived that fee for us.All-in-all I think it will be a great place when it's totally complete and I doubt we'll ever see $99 rates between Memorial Day and Labor Day again. An unrelated note: You can see the affect the economy has on the overall business in the area. The boardwalk (and its shops) were not very crowded considering the time of year. The casinos had many empty tables and the only time we had to wait for a table in a restaurant was in the Country Kitchen (part of the Days Inn) for brunch. I talked to one person working in a t-shirt shop and she said it was the worst she had seen in her years working on the boardwalk. Link to comment
thereuare
Thanks for review. Was there any restaurant open during your stay? If not i would contact HOTWIRE and let them know as they'll likely offer you some HOTWIRE dollars to use on a future purchase (since that amenity icon is shown)If you do contact them in this regard let us know their response. BaltoDave
During my stay, there were not any restaurants opened in the Chelsea. This did not bother us since being a half block off the boardwalk and between the Hilton and Tropicana, there were plenty of options (for dining). In fact, we never used our car during our stay. Thanks for the HOTWIRE tip; I'll contact them and see if they'll do anything. Link to comment
dahammer
40-50 hot Dollars towards a future stay is just a phone call away :) I check every amenity during each HOTWIRE stay and if any amenity is not available, I get a few hot Dollars placed into my account. The LaQuinta in Clifton, NJ did not have the fitness amenity available, so I complained and received 32 hot Dollars. Link to comment
BaltoDave
Thanks for the tip. I just called them and now have to wait for someone from Hotwire's "Research Team" to respond back to me. I'll let everyone know how I make out. Link to comment
BaltoDave
Wow! I just got an email from HOTWIRE and they gave me $200 in HotDollars! Big THANKS goes out to "dahammer" for the suggstion. Of course, YMMV, but bear in mind that this represents about half of my booking (I had booked 2 rooms for 2 nights @ $99 per room/night). Link to comment
