Would it be an issue if I attempt to get the other 3* hotel by saying we have 2 adults/2 children?

It seems like this second hotel has more amenities, which makes it a bonus.

Both the Crowne Plaza and the Hyatt are nice.

Do you mean because you have less people than this? No, that won't be a problem (although you may be assigned a room with 2 beds... and if you prefer one bed the request to change may or may not be able to be honored)
