Priceline Hotel: 4* TS 9/4-7 advise

i've tried priceline 4*TS for dates: 9/4 through 9/7 bidding up to $170.

i don't want to try any other areas as of yet because i really want to stay in TS.

i understand the US open + Fashion week is there, which means prices may be higher (?).

is it too early to place my bid? i see someone already got the westin 9/2 for $175.

any advise on when and how high to place my bid is much appreciated! :)
