goingtochicago Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 I'm currently in Chicago and loving every minute of it, so I decided to stay two nights longer. Here's what I attempted today on Priceline - to no avail.1. $90 Mag. Mile - 4 stars2. $95 - Added Loop3. $96 - Added Lincoln Park4. $97 - reduced star rating to 3 stars5. $100 - same areas and star ratingsAny advice you can give me is greatly appreciated.I'm currently at the Palmer House Hilton, which I got for $95 back in May... Thanks a million!Louise
AaronJB Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 I don't think you're far off, but at the same time, you do not have many more bidding opportunities. But first, have you tried the "extend your stay" option on Priceline to see if you can't get a couple more nights at the PH?Glad you're enjoying the city! :)

AaronJB Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Well, would you prefer staying in the Loop or would you like to try staying in the Mag Mile area?I would recommend upping the bid to $115, or $120 if possible for a 4* in either area. I'm not sure what's going on on these two days, but there does appear to be a convention or other event taking up a significant amount of rooms, resulting in higher rates.

AaronJB Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 I would recommend upping the bid to $115, or $120 if budget allows 4* in either area. AaronJB Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Let us know how it goes. Worst case scenario, I do have a very good hotel option that I'm seeing for $144 if bidding does start to get to the $130-135 area.
goingtochicago Posted July 22, 2008 Author Report Posted July 22, 2008 Ended up using PRICELINE (with link from betterbidding.com) for O'Hare - got the Sofitel for $65 a night. A bit far from downtown, but good price. Thanks for your help!!!
