Started with 18-22 August $39 with Lake Oswego and kept on adding zones on West Side, then Convention Center up to $61. No dice.

Changed checkout to the 21st and got a surprise :) Red Lion listed no rooms available 18th to 22nd on their site so thought I was safe. Will think twice before I change dates again.

Sorry to hear you received a hotel you apparently were trying to avoid. As you've experienced, rates are date specific, and adding/removing just one date of your stay can have a big effect on availability. Do note that even when a hotel is showing sold-out on their website, it doesn't 100% exclude you from winning it on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE... the odds are greatly reduced, but we have seen hotels won while they are otherwise showing sold-out on their own websites.

Hopefully you can make this property work for your needs and it is still a decent deal vs. the $96/ntie rate on their website.

Well it IS convenient to shopping, and MAX for evening trips downtown. I can avoid most of the reported problems with this 'Lion. In the past I would shoot for a 2 1/2 * in the 'burbs and pay $30-35 for a better (or at least newer/larger) room than this property offers. Summer weekdays in Pacific NW = limited availiability + higher rates. But I'll "splurge" for my last night.
