cgebhard Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Hi, looking to book 2 rooms in Chicago the middle of September 19th - 21st. Have made bids for $90 in North Chicago/Mich Ave area. Does the length of time before you stay have any impact on the possibility of winning your bid? Thanks
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 I would say no, as booking months in advance will mean that hotels have likely not revised rates that far in advance yet. Booking in Chicago also depends largely on the dates, as you're dealing with mild-to-major conventions fairly often. Personally, I think dates have a large impact on price - especially in a larger market.
cgebhard Posted July 20, 2008 Author Report Posted July 20, 2008 Hi, I am looking to get two rooms for Sept 19th w/checkout on the 21st. We are going to a Cubs game and would like something in NMA or I assume the Loop would also be a good option. Would like to keep it in the 4 to 3 star range. We are interested in clean/comfortable. Have stayed at several of the NMA hotels over the last few years.I have bid $90 and $95 (using bonus cash) and been turned down twice for NMA. I have bid a little lower for the Loop 85 (with bonus cash) and also been turned down.So it appears I'm in the basic price range, can some one layout a re-bidding strategy that may help? Thanks in advance for what ever you can suggest...

cgebhard Posted August 9, 2008 Author Report Posted August 9, 2008 I bid for the same dates for Chi Downtown. Was bidding in the mid 90's for 4 star NMA and the Loop and not winning. Would drop the price a little when I added the loop. Eventually dropped the price on NMA and the loop and dropped to 3 and 4 star. My winning bid was $86 for the Hotel Allegro in the loop. I haven't stayed at the Allegro but I'm happy with where it is located, seems to be a good hotel with smaller rooms, that were recently re-done.
AaronJB Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Please always make a new post for a winning bid - this post was moved from the other thread. Can you confirm what the star rating of the Allegro was - 3* or 4*? Thank you.

Can you confirm what the star rating of the Allegro was - 3* or 4*? Thank you.I entered the winning bid already I believe. It shows up on the calendar.I was repying to a question someone had posted about a strategy for the same dates. The hotel Allegro is/was a 3 star when I bid.
