laserlin Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 This is my first post, so please be gentle. Looking at Hotwire MMA 3* for $169 w/Fitness Center, Pool, Bus Center, Laundry, Internet Access, and Restaurant for July 23-25. I'd appreciate help in identifying, along with suggestions. There are 3 of us (2 adult and one 18 yr old), and want one non-smoking room for all - can we be sure to get that using Hotwire. Currently have a cancellable reservation at the Sheraton 4 Points using Hotels.com for $235, which doesn't seem too bad and is in a great location. I'd consider Priceline but am leery because of the 3 person requirement. Thanks for any help!
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 The 3* that you are seeing in the Mag Mile/NMA area is the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza.Hotwire does guarantee bedding for the amount of people in the party; that can mean 2 beds or 1 bed + 1 sofabed, although in the case of that HI, it's *probably* (not guaranteed) 2 beds.Hotwire and Priceline do not guarantee no smoking. While I've never had an issue with getting a no-smoking room in the city, there is that chance you are there on a busy day and that could be what's left. So, while a no-smoking room is very likely, I can't say you will get one with absolute, 100% certainty.I'd rather recommend the Avenue Hotel (formerly the Radisson) via Quikbook.com for $160 non-refundable for 2 beds than the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. Search for your dates for 2 adults/1 child. The $160 rate is non-refundable.If you want to treat yourself and still stay under the price of your Four Points, Travelocity has a special promotional rate for the brand new 4* Dana Hotel and Spa, which is an ultra-sleek boutique hotel that just opened about a month ago and looks really quite beautiful. Travelocity has this for $193 (although there may be an extra person charge for the third person) for your dates for 2 beds..If you are interested in the Avenue deal, it would be greatly appreciated if you could start your purchase by clicking on the site's Quikbook.com link, as it does support the site.If you are interested in the HOTWIRE deal, please use the site's HOTWIRE link.If you are interested in an "upgrade" over the other choices - the Dana Hotel and Spa - please use the site's link to Travelocity.comIf you have any questions, please ask.
laserlin Posted July 19, 2008 Author Report Posted July 19, 2008 AaronJB -- thanks for the great information! We decided to go with the Avenue Hotel and were able to book it, using your link, with Quikbook for $176/night. We had considered booking that hotel before through Hotels.com but the rate was $239. You got us a great savings!! :) Thanks again for the help - we will definitely return here the next time we're looking to book a hotel anywhere.
AaronJB Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 Glad I could be of help, and thank you for using the link! :) Enjoy your trip! :)Additionally, the Avenue is still in an excellent location - it's only about 3 blocks or so North and then a block or so East of where the Four Points is. The Avenue looks to be a pretty nice renovation of the Radisson, so it should be fun to see the newly redone property.
