djd Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 I usually don't plan this far out, but I know I'm doing a November cruise. So, I need a room for November 16 (Sunday) in Miami. Is it too early to bid? When is a good time to start bidding? Since I only have 1 night where should I stay ..South Beach or downtown? How do you get from South Beach to port? We are old people ..so South Beach really isn't our style ..but thought it may be different than a downtown ..if it's like every other downtown.Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 In my opinion South Beach won't be worth it (others can disagree), but by the time you get the hotel after a flight and a day of traveling you're really too tired to go out and explore the area. As well, cab far from airport to South Beach to Pier is a bit more expensive than airport to Downtown to Pier... not to mention the South Beach hotel being more expensive as well.Let us know your thoughts, maximum budget, and minimum star rating and we'll see how things are shaping up.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. djd Posted July 20, 2008 Author Report Posted July 20, 2008 I always use you links. When would you bid for hotels in late November? I guess that is a general question ..how far in advance should you look for a hotel on priceline?
thereuare Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 I'd first decide which zone(s) you're willing to stay in and then begin bidding now... trying to lowball and making sure you don't overbid.Have you decided which zone(s) you're willing to accept? What is the minimum star rating and maximum budget you're considering. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
djd Posted July 21, 2008 Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 I assume the only zone I want is downtown. I'll probably book a hotel soon to be safe ..before I begin to PRICELINE.I guess I'm looking at the best value, but if the only 2 1/2* is a Marriott Courtyard, I could stay there. So, I'm not picky on *'s unless someone feels like I'm missing something. Doesn't look like there are a lot of re-bids in Miami ..but this far in advance I guess it doesn't matter
thereuare Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 In addition to Downtown some cruisers also stay by the airport, especially if arriving in the evening or late at nite... not as much in the immediate area but it's usually inexpensive and can relax with dinner at the hotel or someplace else nearby.Let us know if you only want to bid Downtown and what your maximum bid at each star level would be... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow.
