Wanted something in Dayton North area for 6/26-6/29 (3 nights) and was bidding same day. Saw elsewhere online that someone got Residence Inn this month for $29/night, so started bidding as follows:

$29 (2-1/2 star, Dayton North): rejected

$35 (added Fairborn - Patterson): rejected

$40 (added Northwest Dayton): rejected

That was the end of my free re-bids for a 2-1/2* hotel (Huber Heights was not available for same-day bidding), so I had traveling partner bid:

$45 (2-1/2 star, Dayton North): rejected, was offered free re-bid at $58 which I declined.

$50 (added Fairborn - Patterson): rejected

$55 (added Northwest Dayton): accepted!

That may seem expensive for Priceline in this area, but it was cheaper than booking directly through the hotels and there weren't any better deals to be found at sites like HotWire, Hotels.com, or Site59.com (a.k.a. Travelocity.lmdeals.com). I might have saved money by splitting the bid, but I wasn't willing to switch hotels during my stay. Prices from the hotel web sites were:

Residence Inn by Marriott, Dayton North: $95/night Sat & Sun, $119/night Mon.

Holiday Inn, Dayton North: $85/night

Country Inn and Suites, Dayton North: $79/night
