Priceline Hotel: Help booking in NYC

I'll be in NY for one night and I'd like to stay in the Madison Square Garden, Times Square, Midtown East, or Midtown Central Areas. I will arrive on July 21st and Check out July 22nd. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get a rate in the 150 range for a 3 Star plus hotel. Ideally I would like a 4 star but Im not sure if its possible. Assistance would be helpful.

I've looked online and noticed the Doubletree Metropolitan New York City is priced way to high and differently on most sites. Has anyone had any success booking this hotel in the $200 range. I need it for July 21-22

What exactly are your needs for this stay? Do you specifically need the Doubletree Metropolitan (which is priced at $500+ for your date above) for this stay, do you need to be in this immediate area, or are you open to any 'nice' hotel within your budget?
