karj Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Do you know what price I should expect to pay for roundtrip airfare from Chicago to Kiev, Ukraine in September? The cheapest retail price is $1155 total. The flight itself is $1029. Taxes and fees come to $127.Thanks,Karen
thereuare Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! How much would you be willing to bid (which excludes fees and taxes) for a ticket on this route which would make an opaque purchase worthwhile? (given that you give up control of flight times, layovers, routing, and FF miles)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. karj Posted July 19, 2008 Author Report Posted July 19, 2008 If the price is $1020 without taxes and fees, then I'd be willing to bid up to around $700, possibly $800. Do you think this will take?Any advice as to what to start the bidding at?Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 With routes cut and capacity up, airfare bids have been hard to come by.I would start with $500 and follow the tips in the Priceline Airfare Re-Bidding thread to continue to bid and increase $25 per re-bid up to your limit.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. karj Posted August 9, 2008 Author Report Posted August 9, 2008 I bid up to $700 and was declined. With taxes and fees the total came to around $950. Wasn't worth going much higher considering I can get them retail for $1150 total and have control over flight times and durations.
thereuare Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Thanks for the update. It's always worth a shot, but airfare can frequently difficult to do better than direct rates given what you give up (flgiht times, connection length/choice, etc) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
