azepine00 Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 OK that one took some serious effort...Rejected all the way through $80. Used 4* as a very risky rebid and finaly landed it at $85. Hotwire: $97, other sources: $200+
DeltaPurser Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 That's an awesome deal!!! Would be great if it was available during the ski season as well, but I seriously doubt that... You mentioned using 4* as a risky rebid - does that mean this hotel is actually a 5*? You got upgraded?DeltaPurser :)
thereuare Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 DeltaP, the title indicates Resort, so i think they were upgraded from 4* to Resort. I think you're right about ski season as i seem to recall this area being a tough one to bid during the winter season. I am not sure if there is a 4* hotel now in Whistler but it is still a big "if". The winning summary page did not mention this as an upgrade though.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 If you look at your Priceline confirmation screen it will state the quality level of the hotel. Please take a look and let us know how Priceline rates this hotel. Thanks! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
azepine00 Posted June 28, 2004 Author Report Posted June 28, 2004 *** Congratulations, you got your price of $85 for a resort hotel room. ***that bid was for (4*+resort) so priceline perhaps does not consider 4*-> resort to be an upgrade. thereuare, any past examples like this?
thereuare Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 4* to Resort is definately an upgrade. My guess is that perhaps since you bid on a Resort first, when you lowered your star rating to 4* the Resort was still checked or 'grayed out'.... therefore the computer saw both as selected and since the resort box was still chosen didn't give you the 'upgrade' message.(hopefully i explained this clearly enough)I'll check it out the next time i bid and have my first bid rejected. azepine00 Posted June 28, 2004 Author Report Posted June 28, 2004 Good point. Resort was still checked/grayed out. Unfortunately I still can not get sat night (7/17). Failed bids: resort $954* $853* $752.5* $702* $60 -> counteroffer $78. I wonder what 2* is overthere...Also I noticed an interesting phenomenon: when I tried $55 for resort it gave an instant response (not on the next page): ... based on previous results ... the bid has a very low chance of being accepted. The message does not come up above $60. Any idea on how this is determined?
thereuare Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 There was an interesting discussion about the 'low bid/almost no chance' screen here: PRICELINE LOW BIDS.If you'd like some thoughts/comments for the nite of the 17th please start a new thread since it's for a different date than this thread represents... this will enable us to better organize the thread titles once you get a hotel for this second nite. Thanks!
