tim r Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Trying to get 3 nights close to Virginia Beach. Specific hotel goal of Courtyard Virginia Beach 3* in the Virginia Beach Pembroke area. Bid 1: Virginia Beach (Pembroke Area) 3* - $55 RejectedBid 2: Added Virginia Beach Area - $60 RejectedBid 3: Added Downtown Norfolk - $65 RejectedBid 4: Added Chesapeake (Browers Hill) $70 RejectedBid 5: Added Chesapeake (Churchland - Suffolk) $75 ACCEPTED Sheraton Norfolk WatersideSubtotal: $225Taxes/Fees: $43.48Total: $268.48Nightly Avg: $89.50Hotel Internet rate of approx $160.00 fo 3 night savings of $212.00While Norfolk isn't very close to Virginia Beach, I think we'll be happy being in a city next to the huge MacAurther center mall and shops. I had previously tried to win hotels 3* and above in the Virginia Beach Area zone exclusively, but found no luck bidding up to $100.00. That wasn't surprising, as its peak season and even a 2* can demand $200 rates per night. While I was pretty close to biting the bullet and booking the Holiday inn Surfside (@$210), my hotel cheapness took over when I thought about how I could spend the $400 savings. Used the PRICELINE link of course!
