lovebargains Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 I'm new to these boards, and have never used Hotwire. (I have used Priceline, but still found a lot of info on this site usable). We are trying to go to Gurnee, IL and are not sure if we will stay 2 or three nights. Hotwire quotes $59 for a 2 1/2 * (which, by your info, appears to be the LaQuinta) for a 3 night stay. If we try two nights, that hotel doesn't even come up, rates are higher, and we would have to take a different area (Vernon Hills) which I am unfamiliar with.Would this indicate that I should PL instead if we choose a 2 night stay? Do rates tend to be less for longer stays? Thanks!

lovebargains Posted July 9, 2008 Author Report Posted July 9, 2008 July 14 -16 and July 15-16I just tried it again and got the $59 for the two night stay.....Since La Quinta is on the PRICELINE hotels as well for this area, do you think I should give PRICELINE a try instead for a lower rate? Thanks
thereuare Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Would you be disappointed if you recieved a hotel other than the La Quinta? If so then you should take the HOTWIRE hotel you think you've identified as the La Quinta... if price is more important, than you can give PRICELINE a try. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lovebargains Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 I decided to try bidding...I'll post my win on the appropriate thread...thanks!
lovebargains Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 Accepted on first try for $45 bid 2* Gurnee Area. We got the LaQuinta in Gurnee for 2 nights.Used the PRICELINE link from this site. The rate on Expedia was $102....HOTWIRE $59 yesterday (probably LaQuinta based on amenities) but rate gone today. Chose to bid on Priceline since they use LaQuinta or Hampton Inn in Gurnee area....either would have been fine.Glad to get a bargain! :) Two nights for less than the cost of one. Saves $28 off the Hotwire rate (which will probably end up in the gas tank). :) We are contemplating adding a day, but want to see how it goes. Any suggestions on how to get an additional night at a discount once we are there? I read somewhere that someone asked the front desk if there Priceline rate was able to be extended for another day. Will hotels sometimes do that? I always assumed it had to be done online.
thereuare Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and are happy with the results and deal you received. The hotel extending your stay at the PRICELINE rate is against their agreement with PRICELINE, so the times that this happens is far and few between. Was the "extend your stay" option given on your winning bid page? Thanks for sharing your win with teh board and for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. lovebargains Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 I looked for the extend your stay invite option, but didn't get it. I guess we will just stay with the 2 days. It's times like these I wish I had a laptop!
