Rosal Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 I am not sure which are is close to it but the address is: Gershwin Theatre222 West 51st StreetNew York, NY 10019I think is Times Square - Theatre District am i right?I have been trying to bid for about 5 days from $145-175 for 1 room without any luckI would love a 4 Star Hotel can you guys help.Should i wait? Can you help me think in better strategy? Thanks in advance for the help and the info.
Rosal Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 Can any one give a strategy for this 4* 1 room or 2 room
Rosal Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 In this try i tried for 2 roomsSelect 4* Times Square - Theatre DistrictBid $145, rejected added re-bid zone1 Upper EastBid $155, rejected added re-bid zone2 Upper WestBid $160, rejected added re-bid zone3 Madison SquareBid $165, rejected added re-bid zone4 Long IslandBid $170, rejected added re-bid zone5 ChelseaBid $175, rejected added re-bid zone6 BrooklynBid $180, rejected called it a day.
thereuare Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 My first take would be why are you restricting yourself to only the Times Square zone? I assume you'll only be going to the Wicked Theater once, so why plan your entire vacation around the location of one event?I know this is an oxymoron, but while NYC is very big, it is also very compact... just about any midtown location will have you 'close enough' to the theater. As well, mass transit (taxi, bus, and subway) are all relatively inexpensive and readily available, so there isn't too much reason to restrict you location close to the theater, imo. What is your maximum bid for this stay?Your thoughts? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Rosal Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 Thanks for info,I have never been to NY so i am not sure how close or far things are but i know for sure that we will be going to the theathers in the night My max bid is about 220.Any areas that i could add which would be good also for bidding? or any suggestion of hotels are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 I'm from the area and at the 4* level i would have no problem staying in the MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, or ESB zones... but it's your stay so you should check these yourself to make sure you're comfortable with each of them.Once you've had a chance to look at them let us know which zone(s) you're willing to bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Rosal Posted July 10, 2008 Author Report Posted July 10, 2008 I checked all the zones you mentioned and all of those seem fine to me but as a last alternative I would add MSG althought it doesn't have a 4*.
thereuare Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 The MSG zone isn't relevant right now since you're only bidding for 4 stars at the moment. When bidding 4* you have SIX re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, and ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, and ESB and re-bid zone5...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, and ESB and re-bid zone6...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $195, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, and ESB and re-bid zone5 and re-bid zone6...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $220Any questions feel free to ask.If the above is rejected, i would book a cancellable back-up at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central for $229/nite thru Quickbook (please use this link) which is cancellable up until a few days before your arrival. The reviews at this property are excellent that you may want to consider lowering your maximum bid a bit (to say $200??) at thsi point in time since i think this hotel would be worth an extra $30 vs. your average 4* hotel on PRICELINE... but it depends upon how flexible you are in your own budget. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases (or our Quickbook link if you go that route)Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Rosal Posted July 11, 2008 Author Report Posted July 11, 2008 No luck all bids rejected. Examining Quickbook and reading info about hotel you recommended. Will try to check if i can bid again tomorrow.
Rosal Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Just a little status. No luck yet in winning any of the bids. Still trying everyday. Also I was wondering if you would consider that addind the soho area for 4star would improve the chance. I read about the the hilton millennium down there and sounds interesting.
thereuare Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 How high have you bid already... $220?What were your thoughts of the Quikbook hotel above... did you book that as a back-up? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Rosal Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 How high have you bid already... $220? yesWhat were your thoughts of the Quikbook hotel above... did you book that as a back-up? yep but still hoping to get something better in PRICELINE
thereuare Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Also I was wondering if you would consider that addind the soho area for 4star would improve the chance. I read about the the hilton millennium down there and sounds interesting.I wouldn't bid the Downtown/SoHo area as i think the location of your back-up, and quality of the hotel, is superior to any of the 4* downtown hotels... unless you intend to be downtown for a large part of your stay.I think it's too early to be compromising on location, but if you do decide to bid downtown, i would set your maximum bid less than you have already been bidding. If, for instance, a 4* Downtown hotel (remember, you're not bidding specifically on the Millenium Hilton) could be had for $175/ntie, then perhaps an argument could be made to consider this as an option. But if given the choice of a 4* Downtown hotel for $200 vs. the Fitzpatrick Grand Central thru Quikbook for $229 (which remains cancellable in order to continue to try for a better deal)... i would take the Fitzpatrick. Those are my thoughts. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Rosal Posted July 21, 2008 Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 No luck yet T_Tshould i start considering 3*?
thereuare Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Given your back-up of the Fitzpatrick at $229 thru Quickbook i would continue to hold-out for a 4*.Your back-up is only $10 more than your current bidding (you're going up to $220 in your PRICELINE bids, correct?) and it's a "known" very good hotel. For me i prefer a higher rated hotel, but if you think you'll be happy with a 3* property (some of them have very small rooms) then you by all means can start to bid the 3 star level, but i would lower your maximum bid substantially since i think it would be 'bad' move to win a 3* at $200 when you have the Fitzpatrcick booked at $229.... but as i said above, i would continue to hold the course and stick with a 4*, but it depends upon how tight your budget is (and how much the 'hotel experience' is part of your trip)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Rosal Posted July 23, 2008 Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 Not going to max since already have backup I was recently bidding till 195.My problem right now is that the group for the trip is increasing in size 6 adults persons @_@ appears to be the final number do you have any suggestions from Quickbook or PRICELINE for this.
