Priceline Hotel: Looking for 4* in chicago 8/14 to 8/18

Hi,

This is a wonderful site. I am looking for a room preferably 4* for under $90. I have read a lot of the posts here and have tried adding the re-bid zones. I will try again tomorrow but I stopped around 75 dollars. Since its a ways away, maybe i should wait a little while? I would love to get a room for about 60 bucks!

I am just wondering about the Greater Chicago area? Is this a good and convenient area to stay in? I have read lots about NMA and loop but haven't seen much regarding the Greater Chicago area.

I am from Los Angeles, first time traveling to Chicago to explore the city and I'm not sure where to begin!

Thanks for all your help.

PS I used the PRICELINE link to bid earlier

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Which zone(s) did you bid?

The recent $60 wins are not the norm for summer and while you may get lucky, i would try to have more realistic expectations. What is your maximum bid for this stay? What is the best deal you're able to find outside of the opaque (PRICELINE and HOTWIRE) suppliers? (use our BetterChecker to assist in your rate search)

Thank you for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.

No to the Greater Chicago area. The hotels in this area will put you in either "out of the way" hotels or hotels near areas where you don't want to be.

I would keep to only the River North/NMA area or the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area only. There is also the Lincoln Park area, but there are really hardly any hotels in that area and what hotels are there aren't anything great.

Hm... ok. I will not bid for Greater Chicago area and keep my bids only to Loop and NMA. Thanks for the advice!

Yea, I guess I'm just trying my luck in getting something dirty cheap but i guess I'm willing to pay about $100 a night. If not, I think I'll just downgrade myself to a 3*.

I checked the convention calendar and the only thing I saw going on that weekend was the water and air convention? I don't know how popular that convention is but I'm hoping it isn't that popular.

I tried all different combinations of loop + lincoln and NMA + lincoln then i tried all 3 of those and I also added midway airport to the mix.. oh well I guess I need to go higher.

What do you think I'm looking at for 4* hotel on those dates? Should I try 8-14 to 8-17 instead and then "extend" my stay?

Thanks for both your help!

My gameplan would be to first try up to your limit for this complete stay (i think you're chance of success are low, although not impossible).

If that is rejected, and you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, you can then bid again but i would sooner try first for 8/15-8/18 than the other subset of dates you listed. However, note that if your bid is successful, odds favor that you'll likely have to change hotels for the remaining nite. If you made it to this part of the gameplan and are successful for the 3 nites, based upon your previous rejected, there is a strong likelihood that any attempt to extend the stay would fail or be at a rate higher than your accepted bid for the other three nites.

If you're willing to bid up to $100 at this point, i would try as follows:

You have two re-bid zones when bidding 4 stars in Chicago. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 4* Loop...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE.

Select 4* NMA...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE.

Select 4* Loop and NMA...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* Loop and NMA and re-bid zone2...

Bid $95, add re-bid zone1...

Bid $100

Any questions feel free to ask. If rejected let us know if you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID and we'll revise the above for a split bid strategy.

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

In the last couple days, I've tried bidding up to 90 with all the combinations you suggested but still can't get it to accept. I think I am going to try for 3* hotels now. What do you think I should start my bid with? I don't want to split my stay.

Thanks.
