Priceline Hotel: How to reserve a room for more than 2 persons

I noticed that priceline terms and conditions only guarantees a room for two adults. Since there are a number of single bed rooms in NY, families seem to be taking a risk on PRICELINE. Is this true? Anyway to get around this?

It is a risk to use PRICELINE for more than double occupancy, and as you point out, this risk is greater in NYC (and other cities) where there are many single bedded rooms as well as rooms notoriously small which can't accomodate a rollaway.

Two opiotns are:

-rooms thru PRICELINE in NYC are often so deeply discounted that savings of over 50% off are not unheard of, so you can try for two rooms

-use HOTWIRE which allows you to search for up to quad occupancy

Thank you for your reply. Our dates are flexible. Either July 21 and 22 or August 1 and 2 as we are traveling through NY to Maine. From NY we may travel to Newport Beach or (Boston (Martha's Vineyard), then Maine. Based on the Hotwire Hotel rankings, we would be looking for a 4 star.

If I know the hotel for PRICELINE, I can bid for 4 people. For instance for Universal Studios it was (at one time) the Sheritan which was located next to Universal Studios with queen size beds.

Not really... the hotel may have rooms which can accomodate four people, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you will get one of those. The hotel could be full, or simply doesn't have any rooms with two beds available at the time you check-in, they have still fufilled their end of the deal since all they are obligated to provide is a room to accomodate two adults.
