jak378 Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Planning on a couple of nights in New Orleans, July 17th through July 19th. I am trying to decide between 4.5 *'s Downtown @ $89, which appears to be Le Pavillion, 4 * DT, which appear to be either Inter-Continental or Hilton St. Charles @$69, or 4 * French Quarter, which appears to be Iberville Suites or Astor Crowne Plaze @ $58. Based on dllar amounts and appparent values I am inclined toward the Le Pavillion. Can anyone make any recommendations about any of these, as to: accessability to tourist areas, restaurants; quality of the hotels etc. We have never been to NO, and would like to sample the nightlife and a couple of the better, well known restaurants. We will be driving, so I guess cost of parking is also a consideration. Suggestions??Thanks
jak378 Posted July 2, 2008 Author Report Posted July 2, 2008 No opinions yet. I wonder if anyone can tell me if a 4.5* Downtown New Orleans Hotel $89/night Showing Fitness, pool restaurant, business and high speed internet, is most likely Le Pavillion. This is for July 17 thrugh July 19.Thanks for any info.
thereuare Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 This is a match for the Le Pavillon and that would be our best guess... it also gets great reviews. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. jak378 Posted July 7, 2008 Author Report Posted July 7, 2008 Plans ar now finalized. We will be in New Orleans 15 thru 18 July, Memphis 18 thru 20 July and St. Louis 20 thru 23 July. I will post requests for StL, and Mem in the appropriate fourms. For New Orleans:Hotwire lists the following:4 * $76/night French Quearter Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, H.S. Internet, Laundry Facility. This sounds like the Sastor Crowne Plaza.3* French Quarter, $58/night-Restaurant. I have no clue which hotel theis is and would like to know.I would like a best guess as to both hotels. Thanks
thereuare Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 The 4* is a match for the Astor Crowne Plaza so that would be our best guess for that one. The 3* has not yet been idenitified, but i'd also point to the 4.5* in the Downtown zone believed to be the Le Pavillon for the same price as the 4* FQ property... reviews are excellent and it's close enough to the Quarter to walk (although at nite use caution as you would in any large city with a 'reputation'... you can always cab it if you're concerned)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help. jak378 Posted July 8, 2008 Author Report Posted July 8, 2008 I agree that Le Pavillion would be a great deal at that price, and the next time we go to New Orleans we will try to book it. This time however, we wanted to stay in the French Quarter, and none of the available properties on HOTWIRE, at least as of yesterday were what we wanted. We did book the Boubon Orleans at a very competitive rate through a website of New Orleans hotels.
