BluPhant
Hey all... glad I found this board. I'm going to Vegas for a friends wedding in October (Planned wedding in Vegas, go figure) -- we were planning on staying at the Luxor in a pyramid suite, but the end result is that we're going to be paying almost $200 a night for the Luxor. I have time on my side for this, I guess, depending on how you look at it -- I'd like to get in a 5* hotel on the strip (strip north/strip south) for less.I'm considering starting out at $140 or so, including north + south strips ... will likely bid tomorrow (payday).Any recommendations would be appreciated. (I promise to remember to use thr PRICELINE link when booking to ensure that beterbidding gets credit :)-Blu Link to comment
Diamond Dog
Hotwire is offering a 4* for $116 (+tax & fees) for your dates - looks to be Paris (but wait to confirm from the guys that run the site)? Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! Before trying for a 5* hotel, are you ok with a hotel slightly off the strip? The Trump International was recently reported as a 5* property in the North Strip zone, and while the reviews are good, there is no casino (if that is a requirement for you) and it is located slightly off the strip.Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. BluPhant
I would be happy with any of the properties listed on the Priceline hotel list. While I hadn't heard of the Trump International before looking here, after reading the reviews & checking out their site, I am sure that we would be very happy with it. Link to comment

twasnow
How can you tell it's Paris? He can't I would actually say it's Planet Hollywood, they have been one more often on Hotwire recently, Plus PH currently has some pretty cheap prices especially if you are a AAA or CAA member ($89/night)currently I am reserved there for the 24 and 25th of sept, this way I have that price if it goes down or I can get a better deal somewhere else then I can cancel.P.S. my review of the Luxor is CRAP, better off else where like at one of the "station" hotels in my opinion. (just as far away from center strip but way better beds and rooms, and way cheaper) Link to comment
Diamond Dog
How can you tell it's Paris? If you marry the 'amenities' with the Las Vegas Hotwire Hotel List, you can come up with the best educated guess. Paris fit the criteria. Despite what the poster above this says, I wasn't guessing - I was using the tools this website gives us. It's the best way to proceed, as opposed to the "Planet Hollywood have been coming up alot recently, so I think it's that" approach - how often a hotel has recently come up has absolutely no bearing on that hotel you're about to bid on. Use the amenities - I did for the three bookings I made in Vegas this year (and got them all correct). Link to comment
Diamond Dog
Just looking at your dates again - on Hotwire there is a 5* for $179 (looks to be Trump, no casino icon) and a 4.5* for $126 (the only reported 4.5* is Caesars Palace). At those rates, Caesars is looking a good deal? Link to comment

BluPhant
Thanks for your help with this. I'm talkin up your site to my friends... its amazing to me that using your strategies I was able to place 17 bids on this trip before finding a bid that worked. You've got a great site here, good user community, and good tools to help people. I got what I wanted for around what I'd hoped to pay, so count me as another completely satisfied customer.Continued success with the site,-Blu Link to comment
