lhwjud Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Trying to secure 4* Toronto Downtown for 2 nights (28/09 - 30/09) but no luck with offer up to $84.Hotwire has "4-star hotel in Downtown Toronto East" going at $95 at the same date - can someone ID this?Smoke Free RoomsPool(s)Business CenterTennis NearbyFitness CenterRestaurant(s)High-speed Internet AccessSpa ServicesIs there any big event in Toronto in late Sept and early Oct? Hotel seems to be trading at high price. Or should I bid closer to the date? Many thanks for you help.
Aevalin Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 I'm new at this but I think the only one I've seen with Tennis nearby for Toronto is the Metropolitan? It looks like it's right on the East West border for Hotwire...tho I don't know enough about the area to tell you for sure.
tilepusher Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding, lhwjud.Based on previous reports, my best guess for the Hotwire hotel would be the Westin Harbour Castle. I think you're bidding too early to get the best deals on PRICELINE, but I don't have enough experience bidding in Toronto to tell you with any certainty whether rates are abnormally high for your dates (I don't think they are). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on this site.
thereuare Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 I agree with tilepusher... best guess for the above property is the Westin Harbour Castle.Rates are slightly higher than usual, but nothing too extreme (afterall, your within $10 of a win if you wanted to take the HOTWIRE property). I would be inclined to book a cancellable back-up (use our betterchecker to assist in your search for a refundable back-up hotel) and continue to try PRICELINE and HOTWIRE in the weeks to come. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Keep us update and let us know if we can be of further help. lhwjud Posted July 2, 2008 Author Report Posted July 2, 2008 My first offer today of $70 was accepted by Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.Perhaps I could have done better but it was a pleasant surprise given that I bid up to $84 for the last couple of days with no win.I did use the PRICELINE link to place my bid. Thanks for all the help!
thereuare Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Congratulations on your win!Glad to hear you were ultimately successful at rates less than you had previously bid.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
