DSCTravel Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 First time posting, but a regular HOTWIRE and PRICELINE user. After checking what Hotwire looked liked first, I put in a bid just for MTE 4* at $170 on Priceline (Going for $206 on Hotwire). I got a message back saying that if I increased my bid $25 to $195, it would be accepted. I went for it because I really wanted MTE or Times Square and TS was pretty expensive this weekend.I checked the Hyatt website and I ended up saving $209.95 including taxes by booking through PRICELINE ($463.72 vs. $673.67).Hope this helps!
thereuare Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing it with the board. You could have undercut the PRICELINE counte-offer by using re-bid zones (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) and still have only received a hotel in the MTE zone. Feel free to ask any questions you have regarding re-bidding, and if you're new to the re-bid concept and you decide to give it a try in the future, confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. DSCTravel Posted July 1, 2008 Author Report Posted July 1, 2008 Great tip and thanks for the link to the re-bidding instructions. I will definitely try that again next time. I'll also try and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. Thanks again!
