Hello,

I am planning a trip from DTW to TAMPA, FL, 8/22/08-8/25/08, and It'd be nice if I can get some help.

I am seeing the following two hotels:

4-star hotel in Downtown Tampa

  1. No Smoking
  2. Fitness Center
  3. Pool
  4. Restaurant
  5. Business Center
  6. high Speed Internet

4-star hotel in Westshore - Tampa Intl Airport TPA

No Smoking, Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business

I'm thinking this one is "Intercontinental" or "Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay"

any ideas?

Few other questions if you don't mind.

1. I secured a reservation at Mariott Watershore for about $120 a night incl taxes from Marriott.com, where my Gold status w. Marriott Rewards should be useful.

Would you recommend me to just keep this reservation? Should I stop looking because this is about the lowest I can secure a 3.5*-4* hotel?

I have seen Grand Hyatt go for $60 or under over at Priceline. Would you recommend me to just stick to priceline? if so, what pricerange can I expect to secure a 3.5*-4 room?

thanks!

I secured a reservation at Mariott Watershore for about $120 a night incl taxes from Marriott.com, where my Gold status w. Marriott Rewards should be useful.
What exactly would you Gold status get you? What sort of value do you place on that? (is it worth $10/nite? $20? $40?)
Would you recommend me to just keep this reservation? Should I stop looking because this is about the lowest I can secure a 3.5*-4* hotel?
Given both HOTWIRE hotels you asked about above are less than $120/nite, so obviously you can get a 3.5*-4* hotel for less than this.

The Downtown hotel above has not yet been identifed (i'm guessing mayby the Sheraton or Marriott) while the Airport-Westshore hotel above is a match for the InterContinental so that would be our best guess for that one.

So first question is if what is believe to be the InteContinental for $20 less per nite is a better choice or not vs. your current reservation at the Marriott. (the $60 savings can certainly pay for a nice dinner one nite)
